New home for Grandma

On November 17th, 2020 a fire struck a small community in Doyle California. It destroyed 21 homes, 2 of which were my grandmothers. Thankfully she was in Sacramento, CA with one of my uncles for healthcare reasons.  

Thank you to Little Gary, who ran up and woke my uncle Joe to warn him of the fire.  My uncle had only time to put a single sock and no shoes because he remembered my other uncle was in the other trailer. He ran without second thought to get his youngest brother to safety.  There was never going to be a chance that the homes survived.  The winds reached 60 mph and was jumping from one home to the next not touching everyone’s house in its path. Like it was playing eenie meenie miney moe.  It just so happened to choose both of my gmas.

 We are thankful that my 2 uncles are safe, we are beyond blessed that my gma and other uncle were not home when this tragedy struck.

My Grandmother Mollie Lambert raised 4 sons, one of which solely relies on her as a full time caregiver in this home. She is 72 and she is on a fixed income. Due to a grandfather clause she was not required to have fire insurance and also she couldn’t afford it,  at the time this was a small blessing. She is a humble woman who never lives beyond her means.

 She has more than a lifetime of memories tucked away inside her head. However, the loss of the proof of her struggles, triumph and glory in raising 5 children, all their first steps, first t-ball games, dances. They are gone. The face of my great gma and great gpa no longer available with just a glance to the wall whenever she needs comfort from her mom and dad, they were all linked to pictures, these were her trophies, these are what she showed off and they are gone. It is more than devastating. yet, she does not complain.

 However, my grandmother is resilient. She has been so brave and courageous and strong. She remains positive most of the time, she hasn’t focused on the material things that she has lost at all but, she does need your help and so do we.  She has no home to return to, she has only us. We love the extended stay, but I also do know she misses her town, her friends, her routine. It’s her 73rd birthday on Christmas day and I would love nothing more than to show her that the community is all around her.

We are asking for 35k to buy a simple single wide trailer that her and my uncle can live in comfortably. It will be awhile till it's all said and done. 
But, we need to start getting the funds together now.
we may use some of the funds to purchase a cheap little pull trailer to just get her started until a home is purchased.

My uncle Joe is doing all he can with the cleanup. We are also going to be needing foundation and electrical help as soon a spring hits because Doyle does get snow.  So keep your friends on standby in this line of work.
