New Fur Baby Emergency Surgery

Yesterday we were lucky to adopted Lucas, a 5 year old Boxer mix.  His owner abandoned him to be fostered, and when we discovered that the foster family could no longer care for him, we immeditely fell in love.  We brought him home yesterday 12/27 and shortly after realized he was not well. He threw up almost every hour until morning. Matt took him to the Vet the next day, only to realize that Lucas had ingested 3-5 pounds of gravel, that was unknown to the foster family.  We were told that he required immediate surgery to remove all the rocks.  We know we did the right thing by adopting him, but this major financial expense is not in our budget.  Out pet insurance has a probationary timeframe and will not cover anything.  We are asking for any help you can give and everything will be greatly appreicated.
