New Family Van After Accident

My name is Tolanda, and I appreciate you taking the time to read our story.

On January 3rd, 2019 I was in a car wreck caused by another driver. The accident resulted in my paid-off family van being totaled. I spent 4 months following the accident getting treated for injuries to my neck and back. I will need continuing treatment in the near future.

I'm a married mother of 6 kids, ages 15, 13, 11, 10, 7, and 6. We are living on a single income right now due to my chronic health condition and also because I am healing from a surgery I had on May 28th, 2019. The at-fault driver's insurance is willing to pay out a small amount, but once my medical bills are paid that doesn't leave me with enough money to purchase another van, which we desperately need. My kids are in 4 different schools, and they usually attend activities and play sports and are very active. In the last 7 months, it has been very hard for them to have had to miss out on all of those things, as well as our usual family outings to the mountains, museums, swimming, etc...

As difficult as it is to admit we need help, life is very hard right now. Even getting around to do the simplest errands and tasks like laundry, grocery shopping, and getting to appointments is very frustrating and has resulted in months of stress and depression. I'm setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of getting enough money to purchase a new van to restore my family's quality of life. I'm hoping to get another minivan that seats my family of 8, is reliable, and will last us for years to come.
