Central Cross Country needs new uniforms. The girls' team has been growing in numbers and no longer has enough matching uniforms to meet the requirement that all runners wear the same uniform. The boys' uniforms are almost a decade old and most are no longer usable. (My wife has made repairs and alternations to extend their life and make them compliant with regulations.)
Between the boys' and girls' teams, they have won over 20 Public League Championships, the most recent being 2016's Boys' Championship. The girls' team finished second with mostly sophomores and freshman. Last year we sent 4 members to the State Championship meet in Hershey, PA, and we are hoping to continue this tradition of excellence. We already have 50 students signed up for the team, and that doesn't include incoming freshmen.
The School District of Philadelphia does not provide uniforms or funds for uniforms. The school budget has been devistated by cuts over the past decade; extra-curricular activities are surviving primarily by bake-sales and donations. Our team's current fund-raising only covers our entry into invitational meets and our end-of-season pizza party.
We need to get the uniforms by the end of September. I have a quote from an approved vendor for 60 uniforms (30 for each team), with a 3 week turn around time.
