New Car for Betzata community in Lithuania

The Betzata community in Vilnius, Lithuania, is part of the international L'Arche federation, helping adults with intellectual disabilities lead happy, fulfilling lives. It is a community that recognizes the unique gifts of all people, and where each person is celebrated and cared for.
Betzata is a growing community, but even with all the support it receives, it faces financial difficulties: "Every month we worry about raising enough funds. The Betzata home has been renovated, but now we have a great need for a newer car,” explains community leader Rimas. “
The Betzata community house is located 24 kilometers (15 miles) from Vilnius, and due to poor local transportation conditions, it is difficult to get around. Without reliable transportation, community members have difficulty accessing hospitals, doctor visits, grocery shops and cultural events. This causes significant challenges for physically disabled members of the community and their team of assistants.
Our current vehicle is in a state that's beyond economically sound repairs.
The community’s Opel Vectra was manufactured in 2003. And while it has been a loyal “work horse” for many years, its current state makes it unsafe to drive. It is no longer reliable, and estimates to repair it have been much higher than the value of the car.
We have raised funds from family and friends and community neighbors, but we are still short of being able to purchase a reliable vehicle. We are in a desperate need to secure a new community car before winter.
