New Americans - The Film
The idea for New Americans was conceived by Adetokumboh M’Cormack, Jeffrey R. Newman, and Keida Mascaro. (Team Bios Below Rewards) After successfully shooting Confessions of an Exorcist in Mt Vernon, Ohio, the three decided to make a film that met the following criteria:
1. The film must be an impact film that promotes critical discussion on topics of national interest.
2. The city of Columbus must function as a character in the film.
New Americans is a fictional dramatic feature that explores the construction of American identity through the point of view of a refugee from Congo in his first 60 days upon arrival in 2017. We are deeply passionate about the topics of American identity, immigration, and PTSD. With Columbus as the strategic location to tell this story, we believe we can examine these three topics in a meaningful and powerful way.
Beginning in early 2018, we conducted extensive field research in the diverse communities of both urban and rural central Ohio, mining intimate stories ranging from recent arrival refugees to Trump supporting farmers, giving us great source material to construct the story in the film. Jeffrey R. Newman produced the first draft of the script in late April, and we have gone through numerous revisions where we have consulted with experts, community leaders, and our partners, to help us meticulously craft the right story for our city.
It takes a tremendous amount of resources to build a feature film of this genre from the ground up. A robust development production bank account is needed for various expenses detailed below. In a typical film development scenario, a Hollywood production company has an in-house budget for development. We are a boutique Columbus based production company, without the luxury of deep coffers. Because of this, we need your help to make this important film a reality!
This production’s total budget will sit in the $1M-$5M range, with the development set at $100K. In the seed-funding phase of Q1/2018, we raised $37,000 which covered the following expenses: research, script development, legal, production services, project management, and PR. This next phase of seed fundraising, our goal is raising an additional $35,000 which will cover: production legal, production management fees, Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit fee, pitch deck creation, production artwork creation, equity fund raise, and AFM participation.
So PLEASE consider pledging at any level to our campaign, especially if you believe in the future of Columbus based storytelling and film production. This film is a community barn raising, and we need all hands in deck to build this production to ensure this important film hits the world stage!

WHO WE ARE - OUR PRODUCTION
Rich Street Productions is a Columbus, Ohio production company run by Keida Mascaro, Jeffrey R. Newman, and Adetokumboh M’Cormack, and was established in 2018 for the production of feature film New Americans. It takes a village to produce a film like this, so our GoFundMe campaign was set up to be able to allow friends and family to donate to our development needs. BIOGRAPHIES
Adetokumboh M'Cormack - Producer | Director | Actor
Adetokumboh was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa to parents who were Diplomats and raised in Kenya and England. He has been in the international entertainment industry for over 20 years and is a graduate of the prestigious Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film at SUNY Purchase College.
His acting credits include a leading roles in the upcoming film Confessions of an Exorcist as well as movies like Columbia Pictures’ Blockbuster Battle: Los Angeles, Blood Diamond alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, and Captain America: Winter Soldier. He has also starred in hit TV shows such as Lost, Heroes, 24 and NCIS. M'Cormack also recently completed an extended run of the John Patrick Shanley play "The Dreamer Examine's His Pillow" at the Hudson Theatre. The play, directed by Drama Desk award winner Mark Blanchard, received rave reviews from Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.
Wanting to tell more stories about people underrepresented in main stream media, M'Cormack also writes, directs and produces. His production company Loma Mansa Productions LLC produces powerful stories about people who are marginalized and not typically seen in films and on television. His latest film is the critically acclaimed short film called “Irish Goodbye” about a young gay Syrian man who escapes persecution and comes to America as a refugee. The film is currently making its rounds at festivals and will be distributed by Journeyman Pictures in the Fall of 2018.
Keida Mascaro - Producer | Director
Keida Mascaro currently works as a producer, director, and photographer in Columbus and Los Angeles. Keida earned his MFA at The Ohio State University, and is also an alumni of SUNY Purchase College, earning a BA in Anthropology. He most recently developed and produced supernatural thriller, Confessions Of An Exorcist, starring Nick Gonzalez, Ade M'Cormack, Sean Carrigan, and Stevie Lynn Jones.
Fun facts: Keida is passionate about animal rescue, and known for his love for pecorino romano cheese on his pasta, and is known to bring a fresh pepper grinder with him to restaurants when he knows they don't have one handy.
Jeffrey R Newman - Producer | Actor | Writer
Jeffrey Newman currently works as an actor, writer, and producer in Los Angeles. He is also currently in development on a documentary series on loss in the face of genocide. Jeffrey has acted in hit series Sons Of Anarchy, and worked with Keida on the supernatural thriller Confessions Of An Exorcist as an Assistant Director.
Fun fact: Jeffrey is a prolific painter, and his favorite fruit is an avocado.
