Never Say Never

My amazing brother in law was given 2 years to live after a cancer diagnosis.

That was 5 years ago. Finally yesterday, on November 7th, after a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer he passed away.

He taught his two girls, his wife and our entire family that every day is a gift, to greet the day with a smile and an attitude of gratitude and positivity. He fought to live for 5 years after his diagnosis with this attitude - cracking jokes through chemo, making his wife (my sister) laugh whenever he could, always doing homework with his two girls even when he was exhausted, making dad jokes causing his girls to laugh and roll their eyes - and talking politics non-stop.

He never complained about his illness, at times he might say it was difficult or challenging but he was quick to grin soon after and go back to joking around.

Anytime I would ask what I or my family could do to help - his answer was always the same-

"I'm ok. I'm good. But help your sister, take the girls out. Just put a smile on their faces and that is how you can help."

I have watched my brother in law Dar and Tamy walk this journey with strength, grace, faith and so much love for 5 long years.

And now with this campaign, all we (his entire family) want to do is give my sister and her two young daughters a helping hand. 

My sister has not worked while taking care of both her husband and children and while family has always been there to support them, a campaign such as this could really help her in taking additional time off and of course help her focus on her girls and hopefully herself too.

Dar, Tamy and the girls motto for fighting cancer and their family relay name was Team Never Say Never and so that this the name of this campaign.
