1/10 Update: Mum of the fighting pups Star is now receiving treatment for Parvo too. Our current estimate is around $15,000 with the potential to go higher.
RACE AGAINST TIME TO SAVE PUPPIES LIVES
29/9 If we have ever needed to call on the support of our followers it is right now! Today we found out the devastating news that no rescue or dog owner wishes to hear… a litter of our puppies has tested positive for parvo virus.
We need to act now to try and save these 8 babies but our funds at the moment means this is just not a possibility. We have a reserve account for emergencies but we have been quoted $10,000 at this stage to try and save these 8 babies and we just do not have the money to do this. We have put them on supportive care and treatment tonight but we need to raise a serious amount if we are to keep this treatment up for all 8 puppies and give them a chance. Tomorrow we will need to make the horrible decision as a rescue of if we will be able to try and save these puppies, so we need every one to SHARE and DONATE whatever they can to give these little ones a chance.
A little more about our beautiful litter…
These babies were born to a mum that nobody cared about, we named her Star and rescued her from a rural pound where she’d been dumped, giving birth on the cold hard concrete and been put on deathrow with her tiny babies. We saved her and the litter of 8 babies who are now 6 weeks old because we wanted to give them a second chance, to show them that there can be love and comfy beds and walks to the park, but now they may never get to experience any of these things as their lives hang in the balance.
Mum has shown no signs of the illness, but it is probable that she is an infected carrier as her old owners never vaccinated her and the puppies were not old enough for a first vaccination until this coming Saturday so it is probable that she transfered this deadly virus to her pups.
Yesterday these 8 little cuties were running and playing like puppies do, but come last night, things started to deteriorate. We rushed the whole litter to the vet today and were given the devastating news. All 8 have begun the fight of their lives to prevail against this horrible illness, but sadly as much as we hate to say it, finances will play a big part in these babies chance at survival.
They are in the care of one of our wonderful partner vets, who will do .everything in their power to save Star’s kids and at a discounted rate. But it is a costly treatment, for 8 puppies the treatment will be around $10,000. We also have our current animals in care who require vet treatment and using all of our current funds, draining our emergency accounts and leaving our bills unpaid will still cannot cover the cost of this treatment.
But these poor babies who have their whole lives ahead of them deserve a chance …A chance for people to try to right a great wrong that has been done to this little family by such previous neglect. A chance to get better and find their forever families, once their treatment is finished and they get a clean bill of health.
