Nevaeh’s Fight Against Cancer

8 year old Nevaeh Williams was a perfectly healthy 8 year old that attended Marlow Elementary here in South Effingham. On September 14th that all changed she is now fighting for her life. Nevaeh began to complain of a stomach ache and was taken to her doctor where she was immediately sent to the ER at Memorial in Savannah GA. After several tests and scans, Doctors found that she had a 3 lb. tumor in the abdomen that was originally diagnosed as Ewings Sarcoma, But was later found to be a very rare cancer by the name Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor Cancer also known as DSRCT. There has been less than 200 cases in the United States, and there is not a standard treatment plan. Survival Rate for 5 years is only 15%. Her mom had just given birth to her 5th child and only boy 4 days before her diagnosis. Mom is employed with the Postal Service and Her dad is also employed but because they have had to relocate they have no idea when they can return to work. She has been transferred to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta for treatments every two weeks and will receive a special surgery in December. She has already began chemo, however this family is In desperate need Of help and need to get enough funds for everyday necessities and to relocate to MD Anderson in Texas or Tennessee to St. Jude’s to give Nevaeh a better chance. As we all know, It’s the holidays and having five kids, And a newborn is not easy especially when One is fighting for her life.
