Nereid Endurance Walk Fundraiser

Hey there!

We are the athletes of Nereid Boat Club, and on Wednesday the 17th, we're going to be testing our physical boundaries for a good cause. As a team, we will be walking 32.7 miles to raise funds to support the rapid growth of the Nereid Boat Club. From our location along the Passaic River in Rutherford, NJ, we will be walking into New York, past the Bronx Zoo, and finishing our walk at Oakland Beach, NY. It should take us around 12 hours to complete the feat.

This past Spring, we had four boats go to the National Championship, and two come back with silver and bronze medals! As a boat club, we want to spread the benefits of rowing that our athletes exemplify, such as hard work, accountability and teamwork, to as many people as possible. Being the top program in Northern New Jersey, there is a lot of demand for our programs; we are seeing exponential growth with new rowers coming in. To handle the influx of potential learners, we have to increase the size of our fleet. A single boat can cost between $10,000 to $50,000, and this year we will need to purchase multiple boats to keep up with demand.
