Despite its richness of culture and popularity as a
trekking destination, Nepal is one of the poorest
countries in the world, with half its population living
below the extreme poverty line (less than $2 per day).
On top of this, Nepal faces many environmental
management challenges. Much of the country's natural environment has experienced degradation and many
communities continue to struggle with waste
For the month of July this year, I wish to travel to Dhulikhel, Nepal, as a member of the "Nepal Sustainability Challenge" run through volunteer organisation Challenges Abroad. Supporting the FutureSense Foundation, this will be a non-for-profit endeavour aimed at educating communities about sustainable living including the development and implementation of systems that can assist in the issue of waste management and pollution.
To make this opportunity a reality, I am required to raise the funds needed to cover essentials such as educational resources, flights, visas, insurance, local transport, accommodation, and food etc.
It is anticipated that expenses for this sustainability challenge will cost at least $5,000.00
Volunteer programs such as this one allow for disadvantaged communities to benefit from the knowledge and skills of volunteers from all around the globe. We aim to make a positive contribution to the communities visited through trips such as this one, and hopefully making the world a better place to live in.
Any donation to this cause would be greatly appreciated. Even if it's only a couple of dollars, it will make a difference.
I appreciate your time in reading this and am excited to be sharing my journey with you.
