Nenita 'Neng' Lagsac was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer on July 19th, 2018. After the devastating news, she held her head up high and relented to kick cancer's butt. Though she was struggling with everything that had happened to her, she always managed to put on a cheeky grin and reassure everyone that she was doing just fine.
Unfortunately, her body was not as strong willed as her mind. She fought until the very end, but it was her daughters and husband that had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her in comfort care when her lungs, then kidneys, started to fail. She passed away early morning on August 10, 2018.
Nenita was a wonderful mother and an amazing wife. She was an incredible lady; hard working, graciously kind, and always so generous. She has always been strong willed, with so much spirit and energy. During large gatherings, she would always be the first person on the dance floor having the time of her life. She absolutely loved to dance and was well-known for her sweet moves, and teaching others how to groove. She was always smiling and her laugh was completely contagious; there was no stopping her from filling a whole room, or house, with laughter.
Though she was taken from her family and friends much too early, and so suddenly, her memory and spirit will live on through the lives of everyone that has known her.
This fund has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses, but also to donate to various organizations under Nenita's name. She initially spoke about starting a fundraiser to help with medicinal expenses and donating to help others. Her family wants to try their hardest to fulfill her wish and donate to different organizations that mean a lot to her.
Various organizations such as:
- BC Cancer (to help aid the fight against cancer)
- Vancouver Parks (donate for a bench or picnic table in her favourite park, Queen Elizabeth)
- Canada Tree (donate to plant trees; Nenita had a green thumb like no other!)
- Philippines (donate to help others in Nenita's hometown)
