5/31/18: WE WON! ZBA voted to deny the application to Homeland Towers! CONGRATS!! (WHEW!!) But, even with your generous contributions so far, Harold is still out $4K of the about $10K that he GENEROUSLY fronted for us to pay the Wireless Expert months ago. Please contribute any amount you can spare to lessen the amount! THANK YOU! And thank you to those of you who contrubuted through personal checks. This GoFundMe is not a "fundraiser." It's a vehicle for involved Nelsonville, NY, residents to reimburse the $5,000 retainer generously paid up-front on 11/27 by one citizen, Harold Akselrad, in order to expedite the hire of the renowned Wireless Expert, Richard Comi, Owner of the Center for Municipal Solutions, so that he can be present and "loaded for bear" at the 11/28 7:30 PM Village meeting, representing us against Homeland Towers' often false or exaggerated claims, documents and platforms.
Mr. Comi already began to work on our behalf yesterday, and in fact, already pointed out amazing contradictions in Homeland's claims to our Village planning and zoning boards, and you will hear those things at the 11/28 Village meeting, if you attend.
The Retention Letter is attached below signed by Harold Akselrad and countersigned by Richard Comi. I blacked out the Akselrad's personal/financial information before posting it to this GoFundMe.
FYI, many years ago, Richard Comi was the Wireless Expert for Philipstown before the town decided it no longer needed to pay for an expert and could handle the wireless situation on its own... so, he knows our town and our people.

Our Village Board supports the addition of Mr. Comi to the team battling Homeland Towers and, in fact, hoped to hire him, however they had already hired Mr. Graiff and could not afford the hiring of another Wireless Expert. But we can!! In contrast to Mr. Graiff, Richard Comi and his company ONLY work for municipalities against cell tower installations... they NEVER work both sides. It is known that anyone in the cell tower industry, or who has a stake in that industry, "hates" Mr. Comi... which is why we love him.
I have lived at the corner of Crown & Main in Nelsonville for 15 years and was one of the "coalition" fighting to oppose the cell tower at 2 Secor Street. I am now invested in fighting off this Homeland Tower on Rock Ledge, looming over our scenic and historic cemetary and spewing radition throughout our village. My friend of ten years, Harold Akselrad, has been fighting the orginal Rock Ledge site since its inception and has a home on Moffat. He pushed for Mr. Comi's hire months ago, and now as the clock ticks down, he is going with his first instinct to get it done, regardless of having to put all the money upfront to do it. He is an NYU lawyer and former president of HBO. I trust his business and legal savvy implicitely in this urgent hire and I'm chipping in $500 to start. I know the Akselrad's will maintain a contribution, including GoFundMe's 5% and again fronting monies likely exceeding the retainer amount. It is my sincere hope that he and his family do not shoulder the $5,000 alone to support the rest of us, and that as many of us battling this tower alongside the Village, who can, will chip in! The Akselrad's would not see the tower from their home so Harold's involvement is truly for the good of the Village as a whole.
I'd also like to acknowledge that Harold and other members of our Village, especially of the "Rock Ledge Coalition," have already contributed in other ways, for instance, in the hire of lawyers and the creation of the Illustrated Opposition Report ... among so many more ways. WE APPRECIATE YOU ALL sacrificing time and money for Nelsonville and Philipstown's safety and historic, scenic beauty. THANK YOU!!
