Nellie's Home Life, Independence & Learning

Hey Everyone!
For anyone that doesn't know Nellie, she was born with Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy.
The condition comes with many complications, including for Nellie -
- Severe learning difficulty's
- Decreased mobility
- Speech & communication issues
- Muscle weakness / Excessive tiredness
- Poor eyesight
- Bladder & Bowel control
- Facial weakness/Lack of emotion/Tendency to choke
- In turned feet (already 1 major operation & permanent foot splints)
- Lack of social awareness
- The list could go on...............
This year I am raising funds directly for Nellie and her personal needs.
The main aim here is to provide Nellie with a safe home environment, make adaptations that allow her to be more independent at home, provide her with tools that allow her to communicate the best she can and ultimately allow her to live THE BEST, most independent life possible.
As a result, we hope this will also remove some of the strain (physically & emotionally) Nellie's needs have on me and my wife's day to day living.
I will be doing various fundraising activity over the next year or so including things like - Quiz Nights, Curry Nights, Music / Live Band Nights, Kids Disco's, Auctions, Marathons etc & along with peoples kind donations the funds will be put towards - (Brackets indicate benefit to Nellie)
- Installation of downstairs toilet (Independence & Safety)
- Bathroom/Kitchen amendments (Independence & Safety)
- Levelling of the Garden (Mobility & Safety)
- Communication Devices like iPad (Communication)
If anyone is interested in getting involved to help, or wants to do fundraising activities towards Nellie's cause then please let me know!!!
