Neils campaign for Medication
Donation protected
My husband has had progressive MS since 2012. He has helped UBC with 2 case studies in that time. Recently his legs just haven't been working as they used to and falls are happening more frequently. We recently found a new drug for MS patients that will help strengthen the signal sent by the brain through the damaged nerves!! BUT...it is not covered in canada. Our private benefits do not cover it either. This drug has a 6 week trial period, if its going to work that is when we will know. I work full time as a practical nurse, and he is on disability, but to come up with this medication money is going to be impossible. For the 6 weeks it will cost us well over $2000. Once we know if the drug helps, we will cross that bridge when we get there. I just want to give the best possible effort we can to keep him walking and keep his independence as long as we possibly can. This is time sensitive. We would love to start this drug within the next 2 weeks.
