**Help us provide hearty, delicious food and meals to our neighbors this Thanksgiving season**
Hey there! We’re North Brooklyn Angels, a volunteer-powered non-profit in Brooklyn that has been feeding hot meals to the community since 2017. The Angels bring food to where the need is, through our mobile soup kitchen (the Angelmobile), which now regularly serves almost 3,000 hot, healthy meals a week at six locations in North Brooklyn.
Earlier this Spring, the Angels rapidly scaled up to respond to increased need in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our first ever Gofundme campaign supported the launch of a new mission, Operation Neighbors Feeding Heroes, where we prepared and delivered hot meals, 3x a day, 7 days a week to our healthcare workers at Woodhull Hospital. Thanks to the support of many donations through our Gofundme, we were able to provide a total of over 27,000 meals in the two-month operation!
The impact of the pandemic continues to be long lasting for all, and devastating for many. The Angels’ original provision of 1,000 meals a week (pre-pandemic) has now expanded to almost 3,000 a week.
This holiday season, we are incredibly happy to announce “Neighbors Giving Thanks,” a project to bring a happy and dignified Thanksgiving to our neighbors in Greenpoint/Williamsburg amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This project, orchestrated by some of our wonderful Board Members and local volunteers takes on an ambitious number of phases beginning a week before Thanksgiving: 1) the distribution of almost 1,500 frozen turkeys to our local families in need, 2) the preparation and distribution of over 1,000 delicious holiday meals at our regular community outposts on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and 3) to top everything off, the Angels will be taking over the Brooklyn Expo Center to serve 400 socially-distanced sit-down Thanksgiving Day meals to local neighbors (with pick up options available of freshly packaged meals), while delivering fresh and delicious meals to 100 of our homebound neighbors and seniors.
