Nefatiti Beauty Needs You -UJIMA

Donation protected
On June 1, 2019 I acquired Nefatiti Beauty Supply and since that day, I have literally poured everything I have into this venture. It has been a lot of hard work and stressful days, but extremely worth it nonetheless. Although I purchased Nefatiti for many personal reasons, the main determination was to simply keep a black owned business, BLACK. The previous owner was overwhelmed with the task of keeping the business alive for many years without the proper knowledge of how to run a business, let alone seek support. It’s hard to believe that the beauty supply industry could change so drastically over ten years, but it did, and that was something I don’t believe the original owner was prepared for.

So I come to you, completely transparent and humble, asking for your support. I put everything I have into this acquisition, and now I need additional help to revamp our inventory so that we can compete with local beauty supplies. As you may not know, many hair/product distributors have high order minimums, which are not conducive to a small business. Most Korean-owned beauty supplies survive because they all work together to meet those minimums. Unfortunately, none of the local stores are willing to work with me. Also, purchasing smaller amounts of inventory means I do not qualify for shipping and bulk incentives, which in turn will make my products more expensive. I hope that you will see the value in not only a small business, but also a black-owned business. Only 98 years ago in Tulsa OK, we had a thriving economic community, with schools, barbershops, theatres, restaurants, grocery stores, and the list goes on. So I’m certain we can do it again, and this time Nefatiti Beauty will be part of the movement.

While home schooling my son this year we came across a story called “One Hen”. It talks about how families living in a village in the Ashanti region of Ghana, takes a bit of money from each family so that one family can buy something important; something that will help them succeed. For example, one family buys a sewing machine and makes clothes to sell at the market. Once they have earned the money back, it’s another family’s turn to borrow the money.

Reading that story was no coincidence. It spoke to me; it is basically the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey. Running a successful business and lending a helping hand to my fellow business owners will always be my number one priority. So with that said, if we reach our campaign goal, as soon as Nefatiti Beauty is financially able, a grant matching this donation will be awarded to another deserving business. Then eventually that business  will have to do the same until we have built our own metaphorical table, with seats for everyone. I am truly honored that you took the time to listen to my story, and please know that your continued support warms my heart. Peace and Love Family!
