Neely's Medical Fund

Donation protected
This GoFundMe page is for Neely Vollette and her family to aid in the medical bills that are accumulating.
Every dollar will help and be incredibly appreciated.

Our sister and daughter is very ill. To give you a little history, years ago she had one of her kidneys blocked with a stone and it got very small and lost much of its function. That stone was broken up but Neely has continued to get calcium stones. She has had various treatments to remove, break up, and move them around when they got stuck coming out, and she has made it through those procedures. She had one healthy kidney so the Dr's didn't worry too much, but a couple of years ago, that "good" kidney began producing stones too. Over the last
two years, the function of that kidney has been altered but it seemed only to a small extent.

This last week, Neely was buckled over in pain at home and was immediately taken to the hospital. She had a very high fever (106.2), a high white blood cell count of 27 and increased heart rate of upward to 170. The doctors have since mentioned that her temp may have been a record for the hospital. After testing her blood, they discovered a massive infection meeting the criteria for Sepsis. She also had several kidney stones blocking the "good" kidney which prevented drainage. After being put in ICU, the temperature was lowered, and strong antibiotics were given, it became a waiting game for the heart rate to come down before any procedure could be done. They did the kidney procedure to drain it, but there is still a lot of worry about the low function of both kidneys.

Neely remains in the hospital fighting for her life as they work to get the infection under control. This is the goal before they can even address the kidneys

While this is the short version of our tale, I am sure you can imagine the stress on this family. Neely and her husband have 4 young children that we, as her family, are caring for and bringing to see their mother in a rotation. Though this is a trying time for Neely and her family, what they will be faced with at the end of this is a huge medical bill that will carry on long after she is discharged.

Neely applied for medicaid as they would qualify due to family size and low income, but they were turned down.
You see, Virginia decided to not extend their medicaid as other states have done so they are unable to have that insurance. She was able to find some insurance at $600 per month with a huge deductible. There are funds apparently from the federal side that could help them pay for this but Virginia doesn't qualify for that either. So this family has no insurance with a growing medical bill that isn't due to end anytime soon.

It is not Neely's way to ask for this kind of help. They are very independent people but as her family we love them so much and hate to see this kind of financial load burden this family. I know it is a lot to ask of you but if ever there was a good cause this is it. Thank you so much for any gift you can give. Our family's love and gratitude to you all.
