My dad suffered a massive stroke in November and had to be transferred to Seattle because they found that it was a hemorrhagic stroke. He needed a craniotomy to save his life and was on 7 blood pressure medications just to get him stable and find the correct combination to keep him stable. After 3 weeks, he was transferred to Lourdes Medical Center for about 20 days where he received amazing care and had good doctors fighting for him every step of the way, but his insurance did not allow him to stay the time he was required to work with his physical therapy. We were forced to move him from Pasco to Moses Lake where we quickly learned he would not be well taken care of. Sadly, we got a call on the 18th that he would be admitted to the hospital for Pneumonia. Which we knew had to do with his poor care. The hospital is releasing him after treating the pneumonia and wants to release him back to the facility in which he wasn’t being cared for adequately. As a HCA I decided it would be best to bring him home to care for him myself rather than allowing him to be taken to a place that faced us with issues. We could not afford to be driving 2 hours a day everyday to make sure he was being cared for like he deserved and it did not allow me to continue my education as well as make sure my son made it on and off the bus from elementary school. We are happy to bring him home but again we are faced with the struggle of affording his medical supplies. Because there isn’t two people home during the day, we would need a sit to stand lift, a ramp for a wheelchair, an armrest because he isn’t able to move one of his arms yet, and food and beverage thickener because he isn’t able to swallow very well. And not to mention the bills that are already coming from his stay at Lourdes that the insurance didn’t cover. With 2 less incomes in the home we are making ends meet and we thank you in advance for any donation and your support to our family and my dad.
