<div>I'm Maria, I run Pigeon Heart Rescue. I have been rehabbing pigeons full time in London for over 5 years &amp; rehabilitated over 1,000 birds in this time. Rehabbing involves hand-rearing babies, dealing with severe injuries such as leg, wing breaks and torn crop and giving medication to treat sick and unwell birds. We are a no kill rescue.

<div>Unfortunately some injuries mean the Pigeons cannot be released, but as a domesticated species they do live very happy and full lives in captivity. Over the years i have found loving private homes for over 150 disabled pigeons. Typical disabilities include blindness, beak deformations, missing legs and broken wings.

<div>I am hoping to raise enough money to provide suitable temporary housing for the disabled pigeons within my home, whilst i find them loving forever homes.

<div>The aviary cost is £222. I am also in need of an aviary to overwinter young birds before soft release. Hence the total target amount of £444.

<div>I am almost entirely self-funded, using my savings to fund the rescue which i have now depleted. Over the years I have spent in the thousands on medication, food and vet bills as well as not being able to work due to the work involved in rehabbing. So if by god's grace any additional funds are raised I will put this aside to buy medication.
