Nectar DNA: rare & quality food products

We fear that the experience of eating fresh, natural, extraordinary products, from farm straight to dinner table, is in danger in favour of mass production and non-sustainable products. We want to help with changing that, starting small.

Our story starts in Greece and crosses Europe to reach the UK. We are a family. We have grown up in Greece. Some of us currently live in London and some of us in Athens.

We grew up with access to a variety of products of amazing freshness and quality coming directly from small producers and farmers across Greece. It is these flavours and aromas that are quintessentially Greek that give the country’s cuisine its distinct deliciousness. We believe that Greece has an amazing variety of food that is distinct in this world. A variety that – for those of us in the UK – we often reminisce about. For us in London, good Greek products are our home away from home.

Having visited many different places in Greece, we have enjoyed over the years a huge range of products that have left strong impressions on us. The combination of Greece’s climate with the hard work and devotion of local farmers, gives birth to some extraordinary flavours.

It's really hard to uncover the true, traditional face of foodie Greece. It's even harder these days as the Greek economy has been hit hard in recent years, and small farmers and producers have been struggling to afford their living despite hard work and devotion to responsible methods. We will work to benefit these family business directly:

- We will always be working with small producers in Greece who use original methods.
- We will always celebrate the expertise of the people we work with, especially the craft and experience of the producers we work with.
- We are transparent about who they are because we have signed agreements that we are the ones exclusively bringing their products to the UK.

We want to set up Nectar DNA to bring to you some of the products that we have enjoyed over the years. And we trust that you will fall in love with these flavours. They’re the same ones that we use in our own homes, we raise our families with and cook our Sunday lunches with. And we only work with family. We get to know and trust the people that are based in Greece that we work with that they become family as well.

Getting access to such natural flavours is impossible for many. We have built this access over years, and we can only source for you a limited quantity of products of extraordinary quality.

We would like your backing to make this endeavour a reality. And to support the family businesses we work with and our scouters who have the tough job of finding new products. Making a living for those farmers and scouters has become incredibly difficult in the past decade with the state of the Greek economy. We also want to be able to promote our business to become more widely known, and submit our products for the Great Taste Awards.

We would be extremely grateful if you could support us. It is an incredibly important time for us as it's an uphill road ahead:
- Greek farming family businesses are struggling because of the decade-long economic downturn.
- Our scouters are finding it hard to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic as they have gone unpaid for months.
- Our head scouter has been hospitalised with severe coronavirus pneumonia.
- Importing European products to the UK is becoming more expensive due to Brexit.

But we're pressing on. Because wehave so much faith in the deliciousness of the products we have found for you!

We're trying to get supporters from many places, encourage our partners to stay positive, build a social media presence so that we can promote our products, and be as creative as we can so that we can start this small business.

Thank you so much.

These are some of the bee hives of one of the honey producers we work with. If asked, we can pinpoint exactly the olive trees from where the olives producing your olive oil were first picked at, or the exact flowers where the bees started the process to get you your honey.

A "taste" of our range of products. We will be revisiting our stock list, meeting new producers, and adding new products all the time.
