Keep Alex at Stuart Hall School

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

Many of you know the incredible opportunity my 14 year-old Alex had to attend Stuart Hall, a college prep high / boarding school in Virginia. The opportunity for him to attend such an amazing private school has been a dream come true for our family: an opportunity that would not have been afforded had it not been for the schools incredible scholarship award that he received last year. The school has housed female boarders since its beginnings in 1844. However,  Alex and 14 other boys will not only make history at Stuart Hall for being the first male boarders at this 170 year old school, but Alex will be one of first 4 African American male boarders in the school's history.

On this past Friday, I received his new award for the 2015-2016 school year. They have, as in the past, been more than generous in their award and I am so grateful for the consessions they are making to give Alex the opportunity to attend again this year. Unfortunately, we are facing several challenges: the tuition and required insurance fees for school have risen, we have to pay on an 11 month plan instead of spreading payments over 12 months and we are not able to receive a $2000 gift that was given to us last year. Without your support and donations, the outstanding balance for the next 11 months will make his new tuition payments out of reach and unaffordable, even with much sacrifice already being made by both his father and I.

I have never been in such a financial situation where I felt I needed to ask my friends and family for anything. I have always depended on God to meet my needs and have even made sacrifices to keep him at this amazing school. However, one thing that I will NOT do is use the Lord's money that I obediently give in order to make it possible for Alex to attend again this upcoming school year. I pray that setting up this "GO FUND ME" page will allow me to raise the deficit needed to keep the increased tuition within reach for our family.

If I am unable to raise $2,500 by THURSDAY, MARCH 5 , Alex will have to return to Durham and finish high school in the public school system. The contract fee and committment letter is due on March 6. It breaks by heart at the thought, as he and we have worked so hard to make this dream of private school a reality for him. But I do understand that there are far worse things. I also know that whatever happens, it has already been approved by God and I (we) will accept His will on this issue. But as parents, we just do not want to see this dream for Alex die because of our inability to meet the additional financial burden. I am so appreciative of anyone who can assist us in meeting this goal. If you are unable to give, please pray that we are led to make the right decision for Alex and our family. Even if you cannot donate, please share the link and keep us in prayer. God bless you and thank you from the bottom of a grateful heart.
