Help educate the Daughters of India 2020

Hello, my name is Julian Hunt from Toronto Canada. In 2017, after working for over 20 years as an adjunct professor at Ryerson University as well as at the University of Toronto, I was planning a trip back to India. A place that I love. Whilst there, I wanted to hold an event to provide free school supplies to the children who needed aces to them the most.
Upon speaking with my dear longtime friend, Mr Mahesh Bhirangi, he made me aware of the plight of girls in India from impoverished or abandoned families and what their outcome usually was like. It was not a pretty story. Many girls from these families either end up being sold as slave labour into rich households, get pulled into the sex trade or worst of all, killed by their parents as they want any monies available to go to a son who will then be able to provide for them in their old-age.
As a teacher, I found this to be abominable. Both here in Canada and in the UK where I grew up - everyone is allowed to achieve at the bare minimum - a high school education that is free!!!
In 2018 we held the event at the Ashram in Belgaum , Karnataka, India and ere able to provide 40+ students with free school supplies for their upcoming school-year. All this from a $20 donation by other people who care about my cause. Here in Toronto, $20 is something we drop nearly every day for a single lunch at a food-court!
Two of the most memorable girls stood up and one said that she wanted to go to college and become a lawyer. The other proudly declared that she wanted to be the first female Captain in the Indian Army.
This year I am returning to Belgaum to hold another event and need your help. Mahesh and I decided that it would be amazing if we set up an on-going event in order to see how the students progress over the years, as well as that most times, people hold an event as a one-off, we wanted to have it sustain itself in perpetuity.

After reading my story and watching the video below, you might wonder why there are two young boys at the Ashram as it is supposed to be for girls only. The story was touching. One morning the Guru went to open the Ashram and at the gates he found 3 small children, one girl and her two brothers. Upon speaking with them, he learned that their mother was dead and that they had been brought there by their father who had not come back to pick them up as he had promised to do. It later came out that their father was extremely poor, amongst other things, and had abandoned them. When the Guru tried to explain that his Ashram was for girls only, the girl said that she would not leave her brothers, even if that meant losing her chance at an education. The Guru was so moved by her devotion to her brothers that he made an exception and has allowed the boys to stay with their sister. He said "in my heart I have to weigh out all the pros and cons of any situation, I did not feel it would help the girl if she could not be near her brothers in getting an education. So I decided to educate all three of them together".
