Hello! I am so excited to share with you why I am going to YWAM Holmsted Manor, and what I'll be doing there!
To start, I was saved at the age of 6, after hearing about Jesus during Vacation Bible School. I grew up in a missions-focused environment. I attended a missions church, attended Alliance Women, whose goal was to support missionaries through corporate prayer and financial support, and went to AWANA every Wednesday, where I sometimes 'interviewed' missionaries my family knew! As a teenager, I have been on two mission trips to Nicaragua, and can now fully understand the hard work missionaries do to honor the Lord and share the Gospel.
So why am I going to YWAM?
I am a firm believer that growth comes in steps and leaps, and YWAM is a huge leap for me. Youth With A Mission is a worldwide ministry dedicated to serving others and sharing the Gospel. They have bases in over 180 countries, and their focus is to train and equip believers to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19)
I believe that God may be calling me to missions. It might be overseas or in the United States, it will be scary, and at times there will be uncertainty, but I know that He will be with me every step of the way. God has given me new life designed to be lived to its fullest. Filled with joy, fearlessness, laughter, and adventure. To me, I am living life to its fullest when I am serving others, and talking to people about Jesus. YWAM is the perfect opportunity to dive headfirst into the mission field, and this experience brings together my desires to travel, serve, and continue to be in a community where people are on fire for Jesus.
This September I will be traveling to West Sussex, England to participate in the Holmsted Manor DTS (Discipleship Training School.) When I leave, I will be leaving my adopted hometown to live in a new country and culture. I will also meet totally new people, and participate in a classroom setting for the first time!
What will I be doing there? The DTS will be split into two sections. For the first 12 weeks I will be living in England, receiving the training I mentioned earlier, and I will also take part in local outreach to serve the surrounding areas. Then for the next 9-10 weeks I will move to a new country to use the practical knowledge I will have learned for International outreach. After outreach, I will return to Holmsted Manor to process the last 5 months, and prepare to return home.
Why $5,000? $5,000 is a rough estimate of what I will need to attend the Holmsted Manor DTS. This includes flights to England, the cost for the lecture phase, and the cost for the outreach phase.
You can also support me through prayer! YWAM will be an incredible adventure, with trials and triumphs. If you'd like, you can pray for:
Safety as I travel across the pond for the first time, boldness and confidence as I go throughout this journey, and that God would calm any anxieties that may arise during this process.
I sincerely thank you for all of your support and encouragement! I cannot wait to send updates, and who knows? Maybe I'll come back with an accent!
Just kidding! Once a valley girl, always a valley girl.
