On Jan 9th, 2015 my wife became really Ill and as a result I rushed her to our hospital's emergency room. She was diagnosed with an infection caused by Streptococcus Group A, a bacterial infection that quickly made its way through her blood stream and caused her blood pressure to drop to 65/40. As a result her kidneys failed (but function is just about normal now after a long bout with dialysis) and she needed to have an emergency operation (a laparotomy) to remove a secondary infection that was caused by the initial streptococcus infection.
On top of all this, the infection caused the most devastating effects; necrosis (tissue death) to her fingers and toes. She has had to have all toes surgically removed as well as complete removal of four fingers on the left hand and partial removal of the thumb on the left hand and fingers on the right hand. She will hopefully be able to walk normally within 6 months due to the removal of all toes and balance issues. After being told upon admission that she was the sickest person in the hospital at that time and after making it through an operation where doctors had told me that her vitals weren't quite strong enough to ensure the operation would be a success, we are truly thankful that she will be coming home to our 6 year old boy Mason and 3 year old girl Rachel and myself. We have created this fund to help us purchase functional prosthetics for my wife and to cover travel and medical expenses. Prosthetics will enable her to live life to its fullest, so that she can enjoy our life with our children and to be a family again. This has not been an easy battle, considering I could have lost my darling wife, to where we are now. The generosity of many will make this unfortunate event much much easier for us.
