Navy Vet wants to take dying Mother sailing
Donation protected
I am a Navy Veteran, Honorably served in the United States Navy . My Mother, who was wrongfully convicted of my Fathers murder in 1997 (and sentenced to Life without the possibility of parole) was recently released due to COVID-19 in July 2020.
We both were able to share our story on the Dr Phil show ( which will be shown on November 24th and 25th 2020) . I was 17 years old when my Mother went to prison which led to an emotional journey while serving in the Navy.
For the 24 years during her incarceration, we often spoke about my voyage in the Navy, and all the places I've traveled. I made a vow to my Mother. l I promised her if she was ever released, I would take her sailing across the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic.
While my Mother is currently battling liver and ovarian cancer, she survived breast and brain cancer. now in the free world, I still want to keep my promise to take her sailing on my very own boat across the waters.
Serving in the Navy has given me great experience, passion and love for the SEA.
My Mother had given me the surprise of a lifetime by attending my Navy Graduation in 1996 and taken my classmate and I out to dinner. I would like to return the favor and take her out on my own boat to live out her days. Please support a Navy Veteran in purchasing his first sail boat.
