Native Immigrant Needs Your Support

As representatives of the Native Immigrant Gallery & Artist Collective, we are taking urgent actions to ensure the continuity of our community initiatives. Now more than ever, Native Immigrant non-profit gallery needs support from its community, to flourish again.

Since 2013, L’Atelier d’art Native Immigrant has played a vital role in promoting culture, diversity, and creativity from the heart of NDG. Previously known as L’Atelier d’art Métèque, our site has provided a space and platform for artists, activists, musicians, scientists and community organisers who seek to keep our community as vibrant as can be. As a community-based, nonprofit art collective, our mission is to build bridges between immigrants and First Nations and to inspire love for this unceded land, Tiohtià tsi ionhwéntsare. 

 

L’Atelier d’art Native Immigrant is currently struggling to meet its financial obligations due to increased restrictions and frequent closures over the course of the pandemic. The gallery is facing losing their lease and eviction.

 

Especially now, spaces dedicated to cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and celebrating the diversity of our community are vital but often overlooked. Native Immigrant gallery provides underrepresented artists a space to display and sell works to support themselves. The space is also our main point of interfacing with the public, by hosting events to promote community engagement and workshops that encourage creativity and build artistic skills. We also work closely with Universities, providing internship and career development opportunities for future art and community facilitators.

 

We are putting together this fundraiser to save our space. We are requesting assistance from our community in the form of a monetary donation of $3000. This support will guarantee our access to our physical space for 1 month while we work to acquire other sources of income.
