National Bird Day Fund

Avian Welfare Coalition (AWC) is an advocacy group created to provide a voice in the animal protection community for captive birds and fulfill our mission by offering educational resources for animal advocates, the media, and the general public.

20 Years of Awareness
In 2002, AWC helped established January 5th as a day of action and education for captive birds: National Bird Day. Our goal is to raise public awareness of the destructive bird trade, the realities of cruel bird breeding mills, and ways to improve the welfare of birds already in captivity.

We are raising funds to support a special 20th Anniversary National Bird Day Campaign in which we:

1)  Activate the public and drive change by capturing signatures on our National Bird Day petition  compelling the USDA to develop comprehensive care standards for birds to be regulated under the Animal Welfare Act.
2) Broaden the reach through paid advertising to expand the campaign’s audience

Every dollar that you give will help AWC advocate for exotic birds and support their protection.
