Nathan’s Journey

Ashley and Adam Kost are the Parents of 2 year old twin boys Owen and Nathan. The boys were born 3 months early and spent the first 45 days of their life in Geisinger’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At the age of 6 months Nathan was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. This is a condition that affects how his brain sends messages to his muscles for movement and coordination.

Nathan is unable to sit, stand or walk unassisted. Nathan currently undergoes PT, OT, Speech, swimming and other therapies. Nathan also requires special equipment to help with his everyday needs. Nathan is currently using a Stander, Kiddie Kart, Kaye Bench, crawler and a gate trainer. In addition to his equipment, he has several medications to help him and his therapist improve his muscle weakness and dystonia. Nathan is a determined little boy who amazes us with his gains.

Recently Nathan has been accepted into a stem cell infusion treatment program. These stem cells are extracted from the donated umbilical cord blood from healthy babies and after being screened thoroughly, the cells are infused through an IV for 4 days.
The stem cells have shown to increase strength, coordination and even speech in children with CP.
Duke university has recorded successful clinical studies proving these infusions are helpful for children with CP. However, the insurance companies are far from approving coverage for these infusion treatments. The treatment for Nathan will cost $15,800 and this does not even include the expense of travel to and from Panama.

We need your help with raising the necessary funds for this treatment. Both Ashley and Adam are working hard to provide for both of their boys and want to give Nathan every possible treatment available to help better his life. This will not take place of the therapies and medicine that Nate currently needs, it will be a tool to aid in the regeneration of brain function. This regeneration process has a much better success rate if it is implemented before his third birthday.

As of this past week the date was set for them to leave on April 29th. Their flights have been booked and accommodations have been made for Nathan in Panama.

Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 for Nathan in the next few weeks, months, so he has the best chance of success from this infusion treatment. Details will be posted as they become available to us. Please keep Nathan, Ashley Adam and Owen in your prayers as they plan for this Journey. God has blessed this amazing little family and we are expecting his blessing on this trip and treatment for Nathan.

Thank you all so much! God Bless ☺️
