Nathan Myers Support Fund

Donation protected

The Myers family is experiencing a traumatic situation, the magnitude of which will hit them hard financially. I know that everyone is sending a tremendous amount of love and good vibes their way.  I'm asking for donations to help absorb the cost of this terrible situation.  I want them to be able to dedicate their full energies to Nate and his recovery - let's dedicate our energies to supporting them.

For those of you who have not heard, their son Nathan suffered severe electrical shock last Sunday that almost killed him.  When the shock occurred, he immediately lost his ability to breathe and he went into sudden cardiac arrest.  Thankfully,  Jack was near him and able to quickly perform CPR until the paramedics arrived and began trying t restart his heart.  They had to use the defibrillator on him 3 times before they were able to get it beating again.  He was taken to a nearby hospital, but due to the unknown severity of burn damage to his internal organs, he was care-flighted to a hospital in Denver.   He is currently in the Burn Unit ICU.

To protect his brain, he was put into a medically induced coma / hypothermic state.  Initial efforts to take him off the paralytic did not go well and they continue to struggle with keeping his vitals stable.  He's not yet breathing on his own.  There's still no response when they ask him to squeeze their fingers or when they touch his feet.  As more of the medications move out of his system, they will try to do an accurate neurological exam. They did say there will be some brain damage, but at this point are not sure of the extent.

Imagine watching your child try to come out of a coma and not be able to stabilize.  Not be able to breathe.  To not yet know when he will be able to respond to you. Then imagine the weight of the financial stress of this situation.  Normal medical costs alone are a frightening burden for anyone to face - but just imagine knowing you'll have to pay for 24/7 emergency care, helicopter care flight rides, specialized treatments, ongoing medical care.  They've been staying in Denver, by his side, so you can add the growing expense of hotel and food to the list. That's their reality right now.

If you did not already know them to be guardian angels on earth - I want you to know that right now.   They are some of the strongest people that I know, with a capacity for love that is as deep as it is strong.   They're doing their best to remain positive.   There is a facebook group that provides updates on Nate's progress.  You can join it here: https://www.facebook.com/Updates-and-Support-on-Nate-709677969226622/)
