Nate's Attorney-Appeals Court Fund

Nate is a 20 year old young man with autism, blindness, and developmental delays. He is very energetic and full of laughs and smiles! Some of his favorite things are going to the movies and jumping on his trampoline. He loves going swimming with his sister, Jessica, and enjoys going to Boy Scouts meetings and running track!

Unfortunately Nate’s ability to continue these things is at jeopardy. For the past few years we have been fighting for custody of Nate, to be able to give him the best that he can have. Now that Nate is no longer a minor we are struggling to gain guardianship. We Believe this is Nate’s only chance at gaining some form of independence and continue with his development to the highest. For somebody like Nate it is important to socialize with people. Within the past couple months Nate has been absent from his Boy Scouts get togethers and he was taken out of track, swimming, social time at School and with Nate's Fathers side of the Family. Not only does this hurt Nate’s feelings, it also has a profound effect on strengthening his communication, socialization, and independence skills. At our home Nate is as independent as possible. He makes his own breakfast, clears his own plates, clothes and bathes himself, puts himself to bed, and is free to whatever he wants when it comes to entertainment. We allow Nate choices, if he wants to sit in his room with his radio he can, if he wants to watch TV in the living room he can, if he wants to play on his trampoline or even the treadmill he can.  

The courts recently have been making some decisions which we believe are not in Nate’s best interest. Because of this we have to appeal their decision, and we need your help. With all the money donated we will be fighting for guardianship (Legal Fees, court costs etc.) for Nate, so that he is able to grow and learn. This is extremely important for Nate’s wellbeing.
