Natalie Griffitts' Cancer Surgery
Donation protected
Hello all,
Recently, my wife Natalie was diagnosed with early-stage endometrioid adenocarcinoma--a relatively new form of cancer found in the uterus and uterine wall. She is due to have surgery to remove her uterus and other potentially affected or at-risk organs on 2/24. Her doctor seems confident that this surgery should take care of most, if not all of the cancer cells, but cannot rule out the potential for post-op treatment like chemotherapy.
Here's where we need help. Just a few days ago, Natalie was told that the medical center is requiring us to pay a fee of $2888 before the date of the procedure or they will not perform the surgery. We do not have that much cash on hand, so we are waiting to hear from the center's financial counselor to discuss financing options. However, we've both spoken to 2-3 different people seeking clarification and seem to be getting mixed messages. Plus, we realistically have no room for an additional monthly bill. The one positive they've told us is that if we can pay the full $2888, they will take 20% off that total, bringing the total owed to $2310.
If you know either of us, you know that we do not like asking for help, and we do not like people worrying about us. But since August, we have experienced an incredibly difficult series of hardships. Natalie has dealt with several health-related incidents that ultimately led to her cancer diagnosis, and I've had my income drastically reduced due to major car issues and my own illness. So whether you can donate or simply share this, we are so, so grateful for anything you can do to help us.
Thank you in advance, and we love you all.
