My high school friend & teammate, Chris Tominaga, moved to Texas in the early 1990's. After coaching lacrosse at Kincaid High School, in Houston, he relocated with family to Austin & now Kyle, Texas.
One day, while commuting for a catering company in Austin, Chris was involved in a serious car accident when struck by a large SUV. The paramedics were surprised that Chris lived through this hit and run accident. Chris had no health coverage at the time & the driver of the other vehicle was never found. At the time, he was supporting a wife Wren & daughter Dalila (now 13). They received some local help from the bartender's union he started called 'Bartenders Unite' in Austin, as well as a scholarship from HealthSouth. He originally required neckbrace & permanently lost the use of both legs. Since that time, Chris has been in & out of multiple hospitals, suffering from loss of blood, MRSA, organs shutting down, double vision, SEPSIS, bedsores, sensitivity to light, & a panic attack. He now can no longer use his left arm and must remain in a special hospital bed when not at his rehab hospital. His most recent stint in Cornerstone Hospital helped tremendously but now he must replace his outdated wheelchair just to maintain his basic quality of life, while also keeping current with medical bills. His mother Lynn Richardson works in healthcare and has made inquiries about the chair. I personally visited last Fall and plan to see Chris again in early April. Please consider making a donation which will help Chris get his new wheelchair.
