Hello, my name is Edgar Rocha I am a 20-year-old student and I currently attend Santa Monica College. Earlier this month my college got accepted to participate in this year's NASA RockOn! workshop. This workshop allows students in the STEM field to travel to NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to build a sounding suborbital rocket and launch it 73 miles into space. This workshop is very important to me because, over the past 3 years of my education, I have been participating in other NASA workshops to help better my understanding of the field I am trying to get into and work in. My ultimate goal is to become a Mechanical Engineer at SpaceX and help build and develop a new generation of rockets that will send humans to Mars and beyond. This workshop will help me get one step closer to accomplishing my dreams by allowing me to get hands-on experience on building a sounding rocket. To do this I am looking for $8000 to cover the expenses of this workshop $3000 of which will go to the cost of building the rocket and the remaining $5000 will go towards travel and housing for my team of three for the duration of the workshop.
