Opioid Crisis Awareness

Donation protected
Opioids are a class of drugs including illegal drugs like heroin, synthetic drugs like fentanyl, and prescription pain relievers like oxycodone and hydrocodone. Oftentimes, individuals are prescribed some sort of opioid for medical procedures, and become dependent on the highly addictive drugs. In fact, in 2015, 122,000 people in America were reported to have an addiction to prescription pain relievers. Now, in 2017, opioid misuse has become the leading cause of death in Americans under the age of 45. We are 11th grade high school students in South Florida trying to spread community awareness and aid the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the leading organization in research for drug abuse and addiction, in order to educate as many people as possible on the opioid crisis. All of the donated money will be sent directly to the NIDA to be used for the following: safe, effective, non addictive ways and strategies to manage chronic pain; new innovative technologies and medications to treat opioid use disorders; and finally improve overdose prevention and reversal interventions to save lives and support recovery from addiction. To find out more information on the opioid crisis, visit https://www.drugabuse.gov/drugs-abuse/opioids. On behalf of ourselves and the NIDA, thank you so much for your donations towards helping to solve this national problem. Do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions at [email redacted]. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected.
