Narada's Summer Ballet Intensive

Dear Friends, Family, and Arts Supporters,
Narada Baba has been dancing for most of his young life. He started learning BharataNatyam/classical Indian dance when he was 5 years old. He began his ballet studies at 11 years old. Narada is now 13 (almost 14!) and, in the short time since he started learning ballet, he has progressed steadily and shown great potential. He is also currently in his ninth year of studying Bharata Natyam at Prema Natya Vidylaya School.


Narada is a student at The Ballet School of Chapel Hill in the boys' ballet scholarship program. He attends ballet classes four days a week. Recently he has also been in the studio on Saturdays and Sundays rehearsing with the local dance theater company. He is dedicated, serious, and hardworking, rarely missing a class or rehearsal. His teachers offer both praise and constructive criticism as they encourage him to challenge himself and improve his technique.
Narada has the opportunity to strengthen his skills by attending a 5-week summer intensive dance program. He applied and has been accepted into the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) summer intensive in Carlisle, PA where he is looking forward to working hard and being challenged in multiple daily classes ranging from various dance technique classes to weight training and partnering/pas de deux classes.
Our only obstacle is the cost of the program. It is out of reach of our family's budget, so we are reaching out to friends, family, and supporters of the arts to help make this opportunity possible for Narada. The cost to us breaks down as follows:
$2550 Tuition $3275 Room & Board (-$500) Scholarship Award (-$300) Deposit (-$1000) Pledge from generous supporter ------------------------------------- $4025 Balance The full amount is now due on June 15 (thanks to CPYB for working out a payment plan with us). We would be grateful for any amount you can contribute. Attending CPYB is a very special opportunity for Narada and he really wants to go and fully immerse himself in the experience. We know that boys who dance are still considered a novelty to many people, so hopefully that will work in our favor. How many boys do you know that are ballet dancers?
