Naomi's worst week ever.

Hi guys.

As many of you know, I have been undergoing treatment for a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare type of cancer, for the last couple of years. Presently, I am attending radiation therapy 5 days a week.

Last week, our beloved greyhound Marlowe (who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma a few months ago) took a turn for the worse and accumulated about $1K in vet bills, including the costs to have him euthanized when it became apparent that he could not be helped.

The day after this devastating loss, my car was stolen out of my driveway. I had comprehensive insurance coverage, but with a $2,500 deductible. Because the car was a lease, money paid out by my insurance will be paid directly to Chase Bank.

If my car cannot be recovered intact and unharmed soon, I will have to come up with the money to put a down payment on a new vehicle. Even if it is, I will likely be subject to towing fees and the like to get it back.

Because of my frequent medical treatments, I cannot be without a car. In the meantime, I will have to rent a car, which will be even more money out of my pocket.

I realize that I am luckier than most. I have a stable job and am able to do things like pay my rent and put food in my mouth and my pets' mouths.

I do not like asking for handouts. I have never been comfortable with accepting gifts from people. I have been self-sufficient my entire life. I have not gone without a job for more than a couple of weeks since I was 14 years old. But our little family is trying desperately to recover from all of the recent losses.

I don't have much to give in return and I know that things are hard all around for everyone.

If you do find it amenable to throw a few bones our way to help recoup the costs of this horrific week, it would be beyond appreciated.

If requested, I will happily re-pay each and every donation when I am able. I will even put it in writing with my signature on it and have it notarized.

If you're local and I can do anything for you in exchange like walk your dogs, cook you a nice meal, give you a half-assed shoulder massage, help clean your house, give you dubious romantic advice, do your windows, tell you dirty jokes, be your beard... I will do it.

I am considering going through my belongings and offering some of my more interesting things as rewards for anyone who is interested, but that will take some time. I will post any added rewards on Facebook as well.

I'm not proud to be doing this. In fact, I'm pretty goddamn embarrassed. But part of being an adult is being able to ask for help when necessary and it has become necessary. I'm sorry. Please try not to judge me too harshly.

I have no expectation whatsoever that I will hit the projected goal I have set here, but it seemed to be the most accurate, as it's the amount that would at least allow me to cover the deductible and down payment.

EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY. IS APPRECIATED.

Many huge enormous squishy thanks.
