Artist on scientific Tall Ship expedition

My name is Naomi and I'm thrilled to be official Artist in Residence for the 2021 Darwin200 Britain expedition.
I'll be joining the Tall Ship 'Pelican of London' in Glasgow for the Scottish Islands leg of the voyage - five weeks of making art about the incredible science that the young scientists will be conducting on board. We'll be sailing to Harris and Lewis, St Kilda, Fingal's Cave and the Isle of Skye, conducting research on whales and dolphins, plastic pollution and seabird colonies and I'll be documenting it all with my sketchbooks and camera.
Darwin200 have already generously sponsored 50% of the cost of my place aboard the ship and I need to raise the remainder before we set sail on June 13th from historic Glasgow Docks.
The money raised here will go towards paying for my place and any funds over the target will go towards kit, materials and any future exhibition costs. All the money raised will help me to promote the work of the young scientists and raise awareness about the issues affecting our marine life.
I'm a professional artist with a career of making art about human interaction with nature. I'm passionate about art-science collaboration and have worked with scientists and researchers all over the world on issues around plastic pollution, climate change, migration and ecology.
In 2015 I was artist in residence on a traditional wooden pilot cutter, sailing from Cornwall to remote East Greenland in the High Arctic.
In 2017 I was Leverhulme artist in residence with the University of Sheffield and the University of Norway in Svalbard, working with geographers in the field in Svalbard.
I exhibited the work and spoke about my residency at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
I've also made large public works about birds and migration.
