Help Nannie Fight Cancer

Donation protected

This precious angel my brother & I are grateful to call Mom. She’s an amazing lady of strength. I share from the beginning bcs I feel it’s important to know who you are supporting & why. Mom, at the age of 4 was placed in the Ga. Baptist Children’s Home. Her mother dropped her off & she was left holding her infant brother & her other brother by the hand. She would spend from 4 yrs old to 17 yrs old in the care of the state. She had stability, a roof, food, 2 changes of clothes, shoes, a house mother & many sister orphans. She met my dad in high school, he rescued her & gave her a good life, one she dreamt of as a little girl. Later on, she had myself & then my brother, Kevin. We had a good family & we were very close, we were happy! Her life wasn’t perfect but, it was hers & she loved & was loved so much. My dad was a hard worker & really just worked too hard for our family. He loved big! Unfortunately, in 1988 at the age of 39, he suddenly passed away from a heart attack. It was devasting for us & once again my mom felt abandoned & lost. I watched her lean into her faith in Jesus & pull herself together, get a good job (with no formal education), move Kevin & I 2 hrs away & start a new life with new memories. She became our rock & filled the roll flawlessly as Mom & dad. I know it couldn’t had been easy. Kevin & I married & our family grew & now there’s 10 of us total including kids. My brother is a children’s pastor & I am a hairdresser. Life happened to us just like it does everyone & unfortunately in Nov ‘17, Mom found a lump in her breast. They did a biopsy & on Thanksgiving, while we were all together, we got the dreaded call that she had cancer. It took our breath as I know it has so many! So, from there we started our cancer journey with Nannie (aka Mom). Nannie is almost 70 & lives off Social Security & that’s it. She was working 10 hours a week & that was covering food, gas, car ins, meds & a supplement insurance. Not much but, it made a huge difference when it was gone. She has just been too sick to work.  My brother & I will continue to work hard to help take care of her needs as she has always done for us. However, we have hit a roadblock & need some help. Nannie had her double mastectomy in Feb & starts chemo March 19th. She cannot lay on her sides bcs of all the lymph node removal. (Forgot to add that cancer was in all but 2 of her lymph nodes & she is a stage 3b). She’s sleeping on her recliner that we bought her & it’s just not working anymore. She’s unable to sleep well & cannot lay flat on her bed. We have tried everything to get her back to her bed but, it’s just not working. I’ve spoken to some friends that have had the same & said they purchased a mattress & frame that can adjust up & down that would allow her a better rest.  Since she has not been able to sleep well, she’s been having extreme anxiety. My brother & I just thought it would really really help her to have an adjustable mattress as she starts a very aggressive chemo & then radiation. My mother never ask for anything like this & I’d love to help her get what she needs to survive this journey. If you feel led to give toward this mattress & frame we will greatly appreciate it & you would truly be helping with an immediate need for our Mom. Any extra she receives will help with food, medications & necessities that she is unable to purchase due to not working & just living off Social Security. It will completely help her to have what she needs without worrying & counting change. Any amount on her small fixed income will be HUGE in her world. Thank you for your consideration & for your prayers. We know God has her in his hand & is carrying her just as he did as a 4 yr old orphan! xoxoxo
