Nancy's Fight to Beat Cancer

Donation protected
This is one of the hardest things I have had to face, asking for help and accepting from others.  This is my new journey and my past histories regarding healthcare and fighting the fight.

Everything started out with a severe yeast infection that just wouldn't clear. My primary care physician referred and suggested that I would need an OB/GYN specialist and then stressed the need to be seen ASAP.  I found a wonderful doctor who is also an Oncologist just to rule out anything more serious.

I had my consultation in mid-May and she believed that my chance of cancer was minimal.  I asked for a percentage estimate for better peace of mind.  She said low between 5-10%.  I had a biopsy performed that following Friday.  Last Friday 6/2/17 I got a call from her office saying my lab results were in and could I come down that day.  Since I already had an appointment for the following week to review labs I knew then it wasn't good news.

I went down immeditely and was told that I have Stage 1 Vulva cancer and would require a radical vulvectomy. According to my doctor this is a hard and painful recovery but I am strong and will fight the battle as I have done before.

I have had medical issues, since 2000 fighting to save my sight from severe Optical Graves disease which required 9 surgical procedures and radiation treatment to cut down from all the inflammation. I will always have double vision, no depth perception and balance issues. Thyroid issues diagnosed with Hashitoxicosis meaning both antibodies for hypo and hyper are cycling through my system.  Both of these conditions are forever and require monitoring on a frequent basis.  Since moving back to Las Vegas in 2010, I have seen 2 ophthalmogists who concur that there isn't a doctor in this state that is qualified to treat me with the extensive history that I have gone through.

Now I face a major battle with a cancer diagnosis.  With all the previous health/medical expenses and the rising costs and out of pocket expenses throughout the past 15 years I am now facing a financial hardship and why I am willing to receive additional help and support.
I have been disabled since 2003 due to the vision impairments and drastically reduced income. This is a battle that I cannot face alone.

My personal life revolves around my dog Bella who is the reason for my existence.  I have been on my own since the age of 24 with the death of my parents very early in life (both from cancer at the ages of 51 and 56 years old) and have always found a way to cover my needs, personal and all of the medical procedures. This time I have to reach out and pray not only to make a complete recovery but to reduce the additional stresses from the financial medicial liabilities and ongoing expenses moving forward. The changes in healthcare provider's coverage has made it almost impossible for anyone on a fixed income to receive treatment.  This year my out of pocket expense has a cap of $10,000 for the year.  Between hospital, surgical fees and all other associated costs this will max out on the day of my surgery.
Any and all help will be a Godsend and prayers are much appreciated. Please pray and any additional support will mean the world to me. To continue to fight the fight and remain strong and positive.I will be 62 in September and hope/pray and believe for a full recovery.

My preop appointment is on 6/23/17 and surgery is scheduled for June 26th at 1:00 pm. Just for the record this will make my 13th surgery for various issues, 9 just on my eyes.

With love to all and a heart that is filled with gratitude for listening and willing assistance.
