Dear Friends, Family and Good Samaritans,
We are asking for your help following the alarming medical update of our Mama/Nana Roxane, who has been battling melanoma for the past two years.
Roxane's CT scan from June 2016 show that the melanoma in the lymph nodes in her groin has further metastasized, and now the lesions previously found in the liver and lungs have grown into measurable tumors. Although we refuse to accept such a grave diagnosis, the doctors' feel that the situation is dire (advanced Stage IV), and claim it could consume her in a matter of months... crying again ;-(((
Since we started this campaign over a year ago, Roxane's overall health has been steady and generally quite good! Thanks to your generous support, she was able to focus on a series of alternative treatments and protocols, including a vegetarian diet based on raw fruits and vegetables, etc. These and other measures have done wonders to help stabilize her immune system and improve general functioning, making her feel strong and supported.
Melanoma, however, is infamously aggressive and the tumor areas in the liver and lungs are getting bigger - so we are trying to do everything we can to help our Mama/Nana win this battle by building her immune system so that she will stay alive and with us for a very long time to come!
The doctors are recommending she start on Keytruda (Immunotherapy), and to help further stabilize her immune system during this strenuous treatment, a Cancer Clinic has been recommended which has had promising results (cancer-free!) with similar cases of advanced, Stage IV Melanoma.
Thus, we are currently trying to gather enough funds to pay for the high costs of the clinic, which are not covered under our mom's basic health insurance, to make this option happen. We have been given a quote of $20,000 - 28,000 by the clinic, for a 3-4 weeks stay. We, her children, are covering all our travel expenses to be with her in rotation, and are trying to find ways to pay the difference and any misc. costs, and for her ongoing
dietary and health needs .

As for her health, she has recovered well from her last surgery late November (2015) to remove more cancerous lymph nodes and is now talking with doctors to decide on next steps. Unfortunately, there isn't a clear path to take with options ranging from chemotherapy, to radiation, to more experimental treatments like immune therapy, and alternative treatments.
We are trying to help her improve and enjoy her life now, without so much financial burden so that she can focus on her health - with your caring support.

Our Mama (Nana) was diagnosed in 2014 with invasive Melanoma cancer that, despite three surgeries, has begun to spread (metastasized) and threatens to take her life.
A very hard working single mother and devout Christian, Roxane raised a family of four, providing her children with a love-filled and sheltered childhood, although faced with difficult circumstances.
Just before being diagnosed with cancer, she was victimized by a large multinational bank which used predatory home mortgage practices to ruin her credit before regulators caught on to this greedy practice. Shortly after her diagnosis, she was laid off from her job just days before her 62nd birthday, and through a corporate loophole was denied both unemployment and disability benefits.
Now a grandmother of five, she struggles to meet the financial requirements needed to properly treat her disease and battles month to month to pay her bills and keep the family home, even with our financial and emotional support. Our mom desperately needs to focus her energy on fighting cancer, not on predatory corporate banks and the insurance system.
We are asking for your help to take care of our mom’s medical needs, including alternative treatments, and to face these significant and mounting financial hardships. She needs to be able to concentrate her amazing reserve of strength and willpower on battling cancer and spending time with her family!
