Nana’s health care

My nana spent her whole life serving and taking care of everyone else. Now she needs taken care of. Im reaching out to my family and friends, doctors, nurses, in the hopes that this reaches someone who can give answers or even give ideas or direction. Knowing that myself and the closest to me have exhausted every possibility, every theory we can think of. My nana has been struggling with word recall for about the last year. Nothing unusual it seemed for a 77 year old and still mentally sharp. On December 22nd in the middle of the night she woke up and was not herself. She went into an acute delirium, paranoia, dementia state literally overnight. My aunt brought her to the hospital where she spent a week, everything was ruled out and the doctors are completely stumped. Nana was brought home. She does not remember the hospital stay, is not as delirious at home but is still suffering from confusion, paranoia, and recall. She doesn't even know who Any of us are. The following is everything we ruled out: They ruled out psych, mental health Spinal tap was negative for infection/parasites Covid test and antibodies neg Stroke There is advancement degeneration on white and grey matter but doesn't explain symptoms. (Nothing extraordinary for her age) Any type of infection was ruled out Heavy metals r/o Medication adverse effects r/o Possible TIA's but even if, this would not explain delirium or paranoia. A week prior to this episode the only thing we can think of is she had severe back pain which resulted in lack of sleep. To all of you who know my nana you know she is a very accepting, kind person who everyone calls mom/nana. If you have no theories to give. Your positive thoughts and prayers are so appreciated. As of right now we are waiting to see certain specialist and the family is taking time away from work to take care of her because she can not be left alone. We’re running out of time off and are needing to get her home care and to see drs that are not covered by insurance. Anything would be helpful!
