Nakuru Kenya MissionTrip 2018

Donation protected
Hey friends!

This spring I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve in Nakuru, Kenya with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), an opportunity I was fortunate enough to experience in the Spring of 2014, with memories I’ll cherish forever.  I am writing you for your prayerful consideration to financially support me to serve in Kenya in March of 2018 with FCA Missions.

FCA is partnered with The Kenya Project and has been sending teams on this mission for nine years now, working on laying the groundwork for a permanent sports mission.  We will be serving at Mountain Park Academy from March 2th thru 10th, which is both a school and an orphanage in Nakuru for children ages 3 to 18.  This mission uses sports to show God’s love.  Last year, the boys were involved with American football while the girls learned volleyball, and everyone, altogether (teachers, workers, children, and missionaries alike) played soccer.

The focus for our mission team this spring is also to have an impact in the school itself.  Because of the shortage of school supplies for the children they often have to share the same small nub of an eraser, scramble to sharpen their pencils with a blade, and reuse paper for notes and homework. Most teachers hand-write their lessons daily.  We plan on not only investing in the kids, but also in the teachers by giving them the tools they need to teach.  By buying school supplies locally we can support their economy.  Our suitcases will be filled with sports ball, shoes, and other necessities.

Serving on this mission trip will be truly life changing and I know that God will have His way through my hands.  These students and children have almost no material possessions at all, yet live in a way that completely glorifies God and challenges us to humble ourselves by their kindness.  I hope to share my love for Christ and be a light to these children, I know they will teach me much in return.

The total cost of this trip is $2500.  Can you prayerfully consider helping financially with my needs for this mission?  This covers the airfare, lodging, vaccinations, food, and supplies for the children.  I am saving money to help pay part of the funds, but I am in need of your help. Asking for help in this way has always been a prideful encounter for me and I am humbled that God has placed me in this circumstance so that I would need to ask and rely on others in the body of believers.  If I should receive more money than is needed, the overflow will go towards others who have not yet reached their amount and extra supplies.  Thank you for your prayers and consideration, I know this is a quick turnaround, and an adventure I had not foreseen!

The Great Commission says to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:16-20) and in James 1:22, as believers we are to be disciplined to not just listen to the Word, but to do what it says.  Thank you for funding me financially and prayerfully so I can go where I feel called.  Please check out The Kenya Project’s website, www.kenyaproject.org, where you can get more information, view pictures of past trips, and even sponsor a child.

Thank you so much,
Leanne
