Memorial Metal Workshop for our Dad

Donation protected
Our father has always been a blacksmith for as long as I can remember. He learned it from his own father, and it is a family tradition of sorts. I have memories of being young and finding him working away in his workshop whenever I would be looking for him. He was always creating wrought iron masterpieces in traditional styles; from large ornamental gates to mirrors and tables to quirky lawn ornaments; depending where he was in his creative journey of life.

Unfortunately, in September, 2014, our world was rocked when they found a lump that was later determined to be cancer. He has fought hard, but, unfortunately, the cancer was discovered too late to be able to reverse any of its effects despite attempting both surgery and chemo.

For the past few years, he has been planning and started working on building a new workshop for his metal work as his previous workshop was too small to really be functional for him. His attentions were taken away from his craft, as many artists experience, as he was focusing on his career as a truck driver so the workshop is not yet finished.

Our father is still fighting each and every day for his life, and we would love to finish the workshop he started in his memory. This would give our family a space to go and create projects, allowing us to feel closer to him after he's gone. He thinks this would be a wonderful idea, and we would love some help in making this a reality for our family; it would be even more amazing if it started to take shape while he's still here with us so we can give him some updates and brighten his days a little.
