Kevin Hernandez, 17, was a student at the Westhampton Beach School District who would have been starting his senior year this September. In July 2021 Kevin underwent heart surgery due to Marfan’s Syndrome.(a rare inherited disorder that affects the connective tissue) Kevin passed away on Friday, August 27th, 2021 due to complications from surgery. At this time his family is struggling to gather the cost of funeral expenses and also would like to honor Kevin’s wish of being transported back to his native country of Guatemala where he still has siblings and extended family. His ultimate wish was to go home to Guatemala with a repaired heart and a high school diploma. Kevin found great joy in being at school, he appreciated the support of the teachers, staff, and students that surrounded him. He made friends everywhere his contagious smile lead him.
