Eve's Funeral Fund

Don protégé
UPDATE: It is with deep sadness to say, our mother passed away February 5, 2016. We will be continuing this fund for awhile to cover the rest of the funeral costs. Thank you to everyone who has helped us & made donations.

Eve, a loving mother of 4 & caring grandmother of 2. Her fight began when she had strange symptoms & then became paralyzed from the chest down for several months. Doctors could not figure out what was wrong. Finally they discovered it was Lyme's Disease & treated her for a couple of months with intravenous antibiotics. She had a long recovery but still has nerve damage & transverse myelitis. During her hospital stay she had developed a pulmonary embolism & other life threatening symptoms. She spent a lot of her time recovering at home with hospital equipment. But with the length of treatment & physical therapy, she was let go from her job as a nurse.

As she recovered, she found a lump & was tested. I went with her, her daughter, to find out the news. We heard the dreaded word, "cancer". She was diagnosed with high-grade poorly differentiated neuroendocrine cancer. She started her journey with chemo treatments. During her chemo, she developed many pulmonary embolisms & was in the ICU. Then later, with radiation treatments that she has suffered permanent side effects from. With not being able to work, she lost her house. Under stress, filing bankruptcy, & piling medical debt, she was in search of a place to live & a place for her oldest daughter who is autistic. She was able to find a small cheap apartment. Things were starting to look up with the news that her cancer had not spread. She wanted to go back to school to gain skills along with her nursing skills & experience, to try to find a job that she could do with her disabilities.

Recently, we were heartbroken from the news that the cancer has returned and spread to her lymph nodes and bones. The prognosis is poor. She has again started chemo treatments which are palliative only, since there's no more hope for a cure. We love her and are praying for as much time as possible. This fund was made to help with medical bills that are piling up and funeral costs. Since she can no longer work, we need as much help as we can get. She has given us so much, we would like to be able to give something back.
