Therapy for Bill Partridge

Donation protected
I would like to present a condensed version of my brother's story in the hope that you will choose to help him and my family. Here goes:

On March 14, 2012 my older brother Bill and his dear friend, Sam Lerch, were traveling through Ohio on their way home to North Carolina, when they were hit by a drunken driver, traveling through a red light, with no headlights. Sam, who was driving, was killed instantly. Bill experienced a traumatic brain injury.

Due to this tragic event, at age twenty four, Bill lost all ability to speak, stand, walk, or eat. At this time, he is still in need of total twenty-four hour care. Though, he has been able to express himself through writing and gestures and it is very clear to me and my family that his mind is still very much intact.

Since the accident, my unbelievably amazing parents have totally taken on every aspect of his care and, although, I know that they wouldn't have it any other way, this process has been emotionally heartbreaking, physically exhausting, and financially taxing.

So, this is where I must ask you all for help. Bill's actions have recently indicated to us that his mind and body are now ready for serious therapy. After nearly three years of paying outrageous medical expenses, however, my family does not have the ability to pay for regular therapy lessons.

It is, therefore, my goal to raise enough money to buy Bill one year's worth of weekly occupational and speech therapy lessons. I am setting the goal at 10,000 dollars. Believe me, I know that this is a great deal of money. Our experiences and my research have indicated that this is about how much this process will cost.

I love my older brother very much. For those of you who have been lucky enough to know Bill, you know what a passionate, loving, and amazingly kind person he is. He is a talented musician, writer, chef, activist, and athlete. He is a genuine friend, thoughtful son, incredible big brother, and a truly wonderful person. Through all of his hardships he has remained determined and strong. He has a whole lot to offer this world. I ask you to please help in providing Bill with the tools to reach his full potential once again. Any amount that you can contribute will greatly help in this process.

Thank you,
Ruth Partridge
