Carol Jones has lived and worked in the Owosso area all of her life. She was always busy and on the go but she has always been willing to help anyone in need. However, it is Carol who needs our help now.
She was afflicted with a rare disease called ataxia. Ataxia causes a degeneration or loss of nerve cells in the part of your brain that controls muscle coordination. Carol has lost the ability to walk and has very little control of her arm movement. She has also lost a good portion of her ability to speak. It is heartbreaking to see a woman who was so vital and active reduced to this quality of life.
Her husband Ken is by her side 24/7. It is becoming more and more difficult for him to help her move from her wheelchair into their vehicle. She is in desperate need of a handicap equipped van so that she can be easily transported outside her home when necessary.
Carol is like a sister to me. We became acquainted when she began babysitting for my two sons over 30 years ago. At the time I was very nervous about leaving my little boys with a woman I hardly knew. She reassured me that they would be just fine. She was right. My boys loved her like a mother and still do. As a single Mom, I would never have been able to do it without her.
Her family and I are starting this GoFundMe page to help raise enough money for a handicap equipped van and medical expenses.
We all know that it is hard to find extra money in our budgets. However, every contribution whether it be big or small will make a difference.
