Walking with Memphis

Donation protected
Walking with Memphis is a fundraiser for a child who is seeking assistance in reaching a goal of $7,000.00 to gain an assistance dog to assist him and his family in managing his daily struggles. We ask that everybody walks in his shoes for even a moment and understand how difficult life can be for this little boy.

Memphis is a 6 year old boy, Memphis has the brownest eyes and hair that makes him recognisable from a mile away... He has auburn hair that stops people in the streets and he always gets comments on his hair and the colour.
From a young age Memphis’s family became concerned, Memphis would look blankly at people when they smiled or when people showed emotions such as laughing or crying.  Memphis started lining things up during his playtime and he became obsessive and was mimicking or re-enacting movies or others play, Memphis then started to develop sensory issues and socially he was withdrawn.

Memphis was diagnosed with Autism at 3.5 years of age and with a large group of therapists and medical workers we began his journey of early intervention to promote the best outcomes for Memphis in life.

As the time has progressed so has Memphis's signs, symptoms and struggles in the world.
Memphis has also been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and ADHD.

Memphis will run as fast as he can to get away from senses he is unable to manage such as going to a butchers, a cologne of a shop assistant or shopper, the fruit or meat in the supermarket the smell is to over bearing Memphis will run as far and fast as he can to get away. This causes major concern for his safety.

Memphis will leave his bed whilst awake at times when he is asleep and seeking sensory regulation or stimulation, especially in a new environment which can be quiet frightening for his family when they realise he is not in his bed.

Memphis and his family find most days they are house bound due to Memphis’s struggles in the world and believe a assistnace dog will assist in making some of these challenges easier to manage, such as going to the supermarket the assistance dog will assist in keeping Memphis calm when he is experiencing sensory overload or assist in finding Memphis when he runs away in a supermarket or shop.

A assistance dog will also assist Memphis socially in public areas such as a park, it will bring attention to Memphis and Memphis will gain the skills to interact with others by sharing information with them regarding his assistance dog. This will also lead to gaining friends in his school environment which Memphis is finding extremely difficult and he needs support.

A assistance dog can be trained to alert Memphis’s family at night when there is anything wrong or if Memphis has left his bed which is a big concern for Memphis and his safety.

Please help us reach our goal of raising $7,000.00 to get Memphis a assistance dog to promote a better future through early intervention.
