Volunteering in Madagascar!

Hi! My name is Abeni Czajkowski (I'm on the left!). I am in my second year at the University of Utah and I am studying film production as well as international studies with an emphasis in culture & identity.
Recently, my best friend Katie and I were accepted into a 4 week forest conservation program in Madagascar over the summer. We will be departing June 15 and I'm hoping this FundMe page is going to help me get there!
The program focuses on tracking and monitoring the diverse animal species that inhabit the island of Nosy Komba. Many of these animals are in danger mainly due to habitat destruction. We will be tracking any changes in forest dynamics as well as attempting to recognize any potential future and local threats to the animals or their habitat.
I am putting a goal of $3,500 which will well cover the cost of the program fees as well as the flight to and from the island.

If you're interested: In the summer of 2011, I was lucky enough to travel to the village of Amaru in Peru. I had the opportunity to work alongside other students to help rebuild a school as well as educate students about the importance of staying healthy (brushing teeth, sun protection etc.) Humanitarian trips like these are very special to me. I am incredibly and equally passionate about both traveling and filmmaking. I would love to bring attention to the people, animals, and things that need it most and I have found that opportunity through film.
Here are two of my videos that I would like to share. The first is from my volunteer work in Peru. The second is a short video of a rally for marriage equality in Salt Lake City, UT.
